Man, 48, charged in mother's beating, Arkansas sheriff says

A man has been arrested in the beating of his mother last month at her home in Leola, authorities say.

Roy Hendrix, 48, faces charges of second-degree battery, kidnapping, residential burglary and theft of property, according to a news release from Grant County Sheriff Ray Vance.

Deputies responded Oct. 29 to the 900 block of Main Street in Leola in reference to an "elderly" woman lying on the floor of her residence. A constable had conducted a welfare check after a family member expressed concern.

The victim was found bound by her feet and bleeding from a head wound, Vance said. She was transported to a hospital and has since been released.

The sheriff's office conducted a search of the home and interviewed family members, learning that Hendrix was at the residence at the time. Several personal items were reported missing.

Investigators located Hendrix on Monday and arrested him, the release said.
