Black Caucus plans 8 events in state

The 15-member Arkansas Legislative Black Caucus will hold eight town hall meetings in June and July about issues in this year's regular and special legislative sessions, caucus Chairman Rep. Vivian Flowers, D-Pine Bluff, announced last week.

There is a lot of change in state government with Medicaid, education and many other areas, and "it is incumbent on us to reach out to our constituents to make them aware of what came out of the session and aware that we can help them with problems," Flowers said.

The town hall meetings will be held in or near caucus members' districts, she said.

According to Flowers, meetings will be held on the following dates and times at these locations:

• Thursday, 6 p.m., in Fort Smith at Pro-Pack Logistics, 1100 Garrison Ave.

• June 12, 6 p.m., Pine Bluff at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff's Caldwell Hall, 1200 University Drive.
