CARIBBEAN CABARET

Soiree sports island feel, drums up aid for families

Colorful arrangements of tropical flowers and pineapples on tables and the sound of steel drums set the mood May 20 for Caribbean Cabaret, a fundraiser for Women & Children First, held at RH Farm, the home of Rush and Linda Harding in west Little Rock.

The Tiger Steel Drum Ensemble from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia played from the home's front porch as guests gathered under a white tent on the driveway, where there was a bar, cocktail tables and lounge seating. The back deck overlooking a pool and a large pond held a buffet and more seating.

The evening included silent and live auctions. The live auction included a Mardi Gras-style party at the home of Tiffany and Daniel Robinson, jewelry by Sissy's Log Cabin, a beach getaway donated by Cathy and Hank Browne and Cindy Murphy and a hunting trip at the Roc Roe Duck Hunting Club.

Jen Spore was event chairman. The tropical affair was hosted by the agency's volunteer group, the Peacekeepers. Women & Children First provides crisis intervention, support services and shelter for survivors of family violence.
