Cardinals overwhelm Naturals

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Matt Pearce tossed a ninehit complete game and Jesse Jenner homered and had two hits, driving in two, as the Springfield Cardinals topped the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 6-2 on Sunday.

Pearce (4-2) allowed two runs while striking out six and walking one to pick up the win.

Down 2-0 in the third, NW Arkansas tied it up when Samir Duenez and Mauricio Ramos hit RBI singles.

The Cardinals took the lead in the sixth inning when Jenner hit an RBI single, bringing home Anthony Garcia.

The Cardinals later added two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth. In the seventh, Jose Adolis Garcia hit a two-run home run, while Jenner hit a solo home run in the eighth.

Tim Hill (0-2) went 2 2/3 innings, allowing three runs and five hits while striking out three in the Texas League game.

Allan de San Miguel doubled and singled twice for the Naturals.

DRILLERS 13, TRAVELERS 6 Jose Miguel Fernandez hit a grand slam in the third inning, leading the Tulsa Drillers to a 13-6 win over the Arkansas Travelers on Sunday. The grand slam by Fernandez came in the midst of a six-run inning and gave the Drillers an 8-0 lead. Later in the inning, Paul Hoenecke hit a solo home run. Hoenecke homered twice and singled, scoring a pair of runs while also driving home a couple for Tulsa. Kyle Farmer homered and singled three times while also driving home two.
