Ferri impresses in debut for Rangers

It took 10 minutes for Leonardo Ferri to score a goal in his Little Rock Rangers debut Saturday night, when the Rangers (2-2-2) defeated Demize NPSL 2-1 at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock before an announced crowd of 1,436.

Ferri helped the Rangers win their first match since the season opener by tapping an arching midair pass from Rafael Ferreira 40 yards downfield, in stride off his right foot, for the first goal of the night.

Ferreira, who just graduated from Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo., invited Ferri -- his friend and fellow Brazilian -- to try out for the Rangers in their second season in the National Premier Soccer League. Ferri became eligible this week and showed promise when he scored on a 20-yard bicycle kick during practice.

Ulises Caba Cordova scored the go-ahead goal at the 43:45 mark for the Rangers.
