Springdale, Rogers utilities applauded

Springdale Water Utilities won the statewide Safety Award for cities with more than 20,000 people at the annual Arkansas Water Works & Water Environment Association Conference earlier this month in Hot Springs.

"The story is not just about water or wastewater," according to Heath Ward, Springdale utilities executive director. "It is about our culture and our community and that is why the entire utility was recognized."

Jennifer Enos, Springdale Water Utilities treatment plant director, was recognized as the 2016 Wastewater Manager of the Year. Shannon Bowen, maintenance supervisor, was awarded the 2016 Wastewater Treatment Operator of the Year, and Tiffany Mallard, lab supervisor, received her Class IV wastewater license, which is the highest level of professional licensing.

Rogers Water Utilities employees Carolyn Roth and Johnny Lunsford received awards at the conference. Roth, environmental services coordinator, was presented with the Laboratory Analyst Award. Lunsford, construction and maintenance supervisor, received the Collection System Award for outstanding contributions to the field of wastewater collection systems.

Wal-Mart unit wins truck safety honor

The Arkansas Trucking Association named Wal-Mart Transportation as its grand champion and first-place winner in the private fleet, large carrier division in the corporate fleet safety awards presentation at its convention earlier this month in Rogers.

Wal-Mart Transportation, headquartered in Bentonville, logged more than 20.8 million miles on Arkansas highways in 2016 with six reported accidents.

The association named winners in six categories. Other winners from Northwest Arkansas are P.A.M. Transport of Tontitown and FedEx Freight in Harrison.

Bravis Marketing builds in Centerton

Bravis Marketing Agency, a shopper and retail marketer, held a formal groundbreaking ceremony Friday for a 21,000-square-foot building owned and developed by Bradshaw Properties.

The building in Centerton will sit on 7 acres and is scheduled to be completed in February 2018.

The contemporary building will feature a customer collaboration layout center and include state-of-the-art production facilities for special projects, prototyping and display/POS production.

Firm in Springdale gets state award

Americold Logistics in Springdale is the recipient of a three-year Accumulative Safety Award from the state Department of Labor, according to a press release.

Thirty-four employees did not lose a day of work because of a work-related injury or illness between March 26, 2014, and March 26, 2017.

The company has a safety program in effect and a safety committee consisting of both employees and management.
