Where I live: We live in historic downtown Rogers.

Occupation: I have been the mayor of Rogers since 2011.

My favorite space is: our guest/pool house.

Why? Our home is built on a former vacant lot. The original house was removed years ago, leaving a detached garage and workshop in the corner of the lot. We worked most weekends for a year or more to renovate the structure into a fully-functioning guest house or, as I like to call it: an epic man cave.

It has a full kitchen and bar with two open areas that provide room for a full-size pool table, seating, and a table which can convert into a poker table. A bedroom, full bath and laundry room complete the 1,000 square-foot main structure, and an unfinished enclosed space will eventually serve as an additional home office.

We use the space to entertain guests using our pool, and it provides a place for loud and rowdy folks to go during big gatherings and holidays (there are no noise rules out there). It makes having overnight guests easy and is a quiet place 20 steps from the house where I can work from home in the evenings. Maybe the best part is that I get total control over what is playing on the televisions, always.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Clean out the office portion of the building which is still functioning as a construction storage room.
