DIRT-FREE GARDEN PARTY

Health Center benefit honors woman's work

The rain kept the fundraiser from being an outdoor event May 3, but it didn't keep guests away from the 30th annual Garden Party hosted by Planned Parenthood Great Plains. About 500 attended the event held at Pavilion in the Park. The intended venue was the Rogers House.

Bettina Brownstein was the evening's honoree. She was bestowed the Brownie Ledbetter Legacy Award for her advocacy work. The evening included a silent auction, drinks, hors d'oeuvres and ice cream named Brownie Ledbetter served by Loblolly Creamery. The specialty ice cream held milk chocolate and brownie pieces. Silent auction items included a pet portrait by Susan Santa Cruz, a three-night stay at Blue Bird Cottage in Eureka Springs and a one-hour photo shoot with Sydney Rasch.

Money raised by the Garden Party, about $90,000, will support the Little Rock Health Center.
