Husqvarna building warehouse in state

Outdoor power toolmaker Husqvarna is building a new Arkansas warehouse operation in Nashville where it will eventually consolidate its distribution operations currently in De Queen and Shreveport.

The new facility will result in several full-time positions, the company said in a release. Workers at the Shreveport and De Queen operations, to the extent possible, will be offered jobs at the Nashville facility, the company said.

In a response to emailed questions, a Husqvarna spokesman said the company employs 1,100 at its Nashville operation, 44 at Shreveport and 18 at De Queen. Nashville is in Howard County in the southwest corner of the state.

Work on the new 350,000-square-foot warehouse will begin in the third quarter of this year and is expected to be completed by the end of 2018, according to the release. The warehouse will be next to the company's manufacturing operations in Nashville where chain saws, trimmers, blowers, pole saws and other tools are made for Husqvarna and other brands.

Once the warehouse is complete, the footprint of the Nashville facility will be 874,000 square feet.

Husqvarna is based in Sweden and has more than 13,000 employees in 40 countries, according to the company's website.
