Reward offered for Springdale bomb information

SPRINGDALE -- The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is offering a $5,000 reward for information in connection with an explosive device left outside the City Administration Building earlier this month.

The ATF announced on its Facebook page Friday night that the department is offering the reward for whomever was responsible for leaving a "pipe bomb" near the Fallen Officers Memorial on March 9.

The Bentonville Police Department Bomb Squad traveled to the location and neutralized the device, which was described by Lt. Jeff Taylor of the Springdale Police Department as containing explosive content.

"The ongoing criminal investigation is being conducted by ATF and the Springdale Police Department," the announcement states.

Taylor said Monday his department is not offering the reward, but is investigating the placement of the device.

Anyone with information is asked to call the ATF at 888-283-2662 or the Police Department's anonymous tip line at 479-750-4484. Calls to ATF are also confidential, the announcement states.

Information can also be sent to ATF on the mobile app www.reportit.com by using the New Orleans Field Division -- ATFNOL -- as the location.
