BENTON COUNTY

The Neighborhood Church in Bentonville, 2003 S.W. Regional Airport Road, plans open house events after the 10:40 a.m. worship services April 2 and April 9. Those looking for a church will learn the history of the church, meet staff and team leaders and learn about the vision to plant churches.

Word of Life Fellowship in Bentonville, 808 S.W. 14th St., presents comedian Jonnie W. in the "Laugh All Night" comedy concert at 7 p.m. today. Admission is free, and an offering will be taken for missions.

St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Rogers, 824 W. Oak St., plans special services for Holy Week.

Two services are planned for Palm Sunday, 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. April 9, beginning with the Liturgy of the Palms outdoor in the columbarium garden and a procession with palms to the church. The services include dramatic readings of the Passion of Jesus and communion.

The church celebrates Maundy Thursday with a service at 6 p.m. April 13. The service includes communion, foot washing and stripping the altar in preparation for the solemn Good Friday liturgy.

The church marks Good Friday with the Veneration of the Cross and Holy Communion from the Reserved Sacrament. Good Friday recalls the suffering and death of Jesus on the cross and includes again a reading of the Passion narrative.

Festal services with communion are planned for Easter Sunday at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. April 16. An Easter egg hunt follows the 10 a.m. service.

Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., offers Lenten meditations and soup suppers every Wednesday through Lent. Supper is served from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. at a cost of $3 per person or $5 per family. Meditations run from 6:30 to 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.

To observe Holy Week, the church plans a Maundy Thursday service at 6:30 p.m. April 13; a Good Friday service at 11:45 a.m. April 14; and an Easter Sunday worship at 9:30 a.m. April 16.

Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rogers, 2305 S. Dixieland Road, offers Lenten services at 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday. A soup and sandwich meal precedes each service at 6:30 p.m.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers, 1101 W. Hudson Road, celebrates Lent with special worship services at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday. The Journeymen men's ministry serves a Lenten supper of grilled hamburgers and hot dogs at 5:30 p.m. Donations will support Soul's Harbor.

The Rev. Gordon Besel, pastor, begins an eight-week "Connections Class" for people who want to join the congregation or want to find out what Lutherans of the Missouri Synod believe. The class meets from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

The United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista, 100 Cooper Road, serves a Lenten supper at 6 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a Lenten service at 6:25 p.m.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., offers Lenten worship services at 6 p.m. each Wednesday until Easter. A light supper will be served before the service.

The Shepherd's Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday. The pantry needs donations of shampoo, body wash and toothbrushes, and any $5 coupon from Dollar General will be used to buy hygiene products.

The Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., serves Lenten soup suppers at 6 p.m. each Wednesday, followed by a Lenten presentation. The church requests a donation of $5 and a can of soup to share with those in need.

The church offers a Lenten study at 2 p.m. Thursday through April 6. The Rev. Dennis Ritchie and the Rev. Liz Wagner, church pastors, lead the study, "Aging Matters: Finding Your Calling for the Rest of Your Life," by R. Paul Stevens. Study books are $12.

Sunday, and the fourth Sunday of every month, the church collects food items for the Helping Hands food pantry in Bentonville. Soup (condensed, ready-to-eat, microwavable and dry) is requested, but all other food and monetary donations are appreciated.

New Life Christian Church in Bella Vista, 103 Riordan Road, collects food donations through April 2 for the Bella Vista food banks.

A parent-child dedication service is planned for April 9. Interested families should contact the church.

The church plans four Easter celebration services at 5 p.m. April 15 and 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. April 16. New Life Kids programming for children through the sixth grade is planned for all services.

First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive, offers Lenten services and luncheons each Wednesday through April 12. The services begin at 11:45 a.m., followed by lunch.

The church sponsors Midweek Manna each Wednesday. A fellowship meal is served from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. for a donation of $5 for adults, $3 for children younger than 10, with a family maximum of $15. Small group study, craft and activity groups for adults and programs for children run from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. A representative of the AARP offers a driving refresher course Wednesday. A program about the Bella Vista trails is planned April 19, and a two-mile hike on the trails is planned for April 26.

WASHINGTON COUNTY

St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, 224 N. East Ave., offers a free presentation of Noye's Fludde by Benjamin Britten at 5:30 p.m. April 2. The short, dramatic opera is a medieval Miracle Play, with a chorus of children and professional singers accompanied by a small orchestra, an organ and a piano.

The cast includes Peter Hine as Noah; Marthe Grice as Mrs. Noah; Ryan McAlister, Lance Nix and Carson Haller as their sons; Ruby Erickson, Gracie Hartford and Gifty Agana as the sons' wives; Isabelle Robinson, Mary Margaret Hui and Kirsten Erickson as Mrs. Noah's "gossips" or close friends. Ann Rye plays piano, and Linda Kelly the organ. Director is Nancy Mathis, and Charlie Rigsby is the conductor.

Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, 6 W. Dickson St., presents The Seven Last Words of Christ by Theodore DuBois at 7 p.m. April 13, Maundy Thursday. The free musical presentation features the sanctuary choir and orchestra, with soloists David Malis, Chris MacRae and Moon-Sook Park.

First Presbyterian Church in Springdale, 100 S. Gutensohn Road, offers inter-generational Lenten fellowships each Wednesday, through April 5. Dinner is served at 5:30 p.m., with classes on spiritual disciplines at 6:15 p.m. Nursery care is available.

First United Methodist Church in Springdale, 206 W. Johnson Ave., presents Amber C. Haines, a Fayetteville writer and poet, as its "local artist for Lent." She will present spoken word reflections during Lenten worship services at 8:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. each Sunday through April 9. The church's local arts initiative exists "to enliven the Christian imagination by creating opportunities for engagement with the arts and supporting local artists in Northwest Arkansas." REGION

Holiday Island Community Church, 188 Stateline Dr., offers the Ray Vander Scripture series, The Mission of Jesus, at 2 p.m. each Tuesday during Lent. The five-week video series was shot in the Holy Land.

The church presents pianist Joel Sebag in a free concert at 3 p.m. Sunday. The performance is part of the Woodward Memorial Concert Series.
