Missouri University of Science and Technology
Several local students received degrees during commencement ceremonies held Dec. 17, 2016, at Missouri University of Science and Technology on Rolla. They include Jacob Hinton of Fayetteville, bachelor of science, mining engineering; and Hadyn Brown of Rogers, bachelor of science, civil engineering.
University of Minnesota Twin Cities
Kristopher Swann of Bella Vista was named to the 2016 fall dean's list at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
University of Wyoming
The University of Wyoming listed Bretta Wilcox of West Fork on its 2016 fall semester academic dean's and dean's freshman honor rolls, with a grade-point average of 3.25 or higher.
U.S. Senate Youth Program
Robert Christian Parker of Fort Smith and Shreya Majagi of Rogers are attending as delegates the 55th annual U.S. Senate Youth Program held March 4-11 in Washington, D.C. Jacob Morrow of Cave Springs was chosen as an alternate.
Each year this competitive, merit-based program brings two of the most outstanding high school students from each state to Washington for an intensive week-long study of the federal government and the people who lead it. In addition to the program week, the Hearst Foundations provides each student with a $10,000 undergraduate college scholarship with encouragement to continue coursework in government, history and public affairs. While in Washington, the student delegates attended meetings and briefings with senators, members of the House of Representatives, congressional staff, the president, a justice of the Supreme Court, leaders of cabinet agencies, an ambassador to the United States and senior members of the national media.
Parker attends Southside High School and serves as the student body president. He has also attended Boys State and is a member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, the Arkansas All-Region and All-State bands, Future Business Leaders of America, Key Club, the German National Honor Society and National Business Honor Society. He volunteers for the Salvation Army, Angel Tree, First United Methodist Church, the local animal shelter, county clean-up, Next Step Day Room food kitchen and the Children's Emergency Shelter. Parker founded and maintains a rock band named Carrier, and intends to further his passion for political science and economics in college and law school.
Majagi attends Rogers High School and serves as the National Honor Society president. She is also the president of Regions student bankboard and Model United Nations. She is a teen council representative for Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and served on the Rogers mayor's youth council. She is a student senate representative and attended Arkansas Governor's School. Majagi is also president of Future Business Leaders of America and the highest ranked tennis singles player at her school. Her volunteer activities include working with Rogers and Bentonville libraries, the Rogers Teen Action Support Center, giving free saxophone lessons and initiating food drives. She plans to major in a field where she can focus on public service.
Delegates and alternates are selected by the state departments of education and Department of Defense Education Activity, after nomination by teachers and principals. This year's Arkansas delegates and alternates were designated by Johnny Key, Commissioner of Education.
Binghamton University
Baro Jun of Subiaco has been named to the fall 2016 dean's list at Binghamton University, part of the State University of New York, with a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.
Fork Union Military
Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy awarded an academic citation to Cadet Giovani Eric Desgrottes of Rogers for his fall 2016 grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
Southwest Baptist University
Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo., awarded degrees to a number of local winter 2016 graduates. They included Nikita Macias of Harrison, bachelor of science in nursing, cum laude, with a grade-point average of 3.7 to 3.84; Andrea Mayberry of Springdale, bachelor of science in nursing; and Zachary Dangeau of Fayetteville, master of business administration.

Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo., listed a number of local students on its fall 2016 honor rolls.
Students on the trustee's list earned grade-point averages of 3.85 to 4.0. They included Emilee Terry of Elkins, Lauren Cook of Siloam Springs, Ryan Roughton of Pea Ridge and Jacqueline Hunter of Prarie Grove.
Students on the president's list earned grade-point averages of 3.7 to 3.84. They included Garland Allison of Fayetteville, John Taylor of Rogers, Kailey Scifres of Gravette and Callie Chenoweth of Van Buren.
Students on the dean's list earned grade-point averages of 3.5 to 3.69. They included Brent Ferguson of Garfield, Brooke Rodney of Bentonville, Gabrielle Stovall of Omaha and Abigail Boaz of Berryville.
Students on the honors list earned grade-point averages of 3.0 to 3.4. They included Tesla Grogan of Fayetteville, Turner McCrackin of Springdale, Bethany Rodgers of Siloam Springs, Danielle Gillean of Rogers, Heaven-Leigh Ivers of Gravette, Makaya Baker of Harrison, Shaleena White of Harrison, Taylor DeYoung of Valley Springs, Jacob Biggs of Green Forest, Kaylee Ricketts of Green Forest, Shaylyn Bradshaw of Berryville and Mark Janes of Berryville.
