Road work to shut U.S. 67/167 lanes

Construction to improve U.S. 67/167 -- including a frontage road -- in Pulaski and Lonoke counties will require some lane closures today, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

Intermittent lane closures for five days will begin as crews work on pipe culvert construction under the frontage road, also called T.P. White Drive, between Vandenberg Boulevard in Jacksonville and Arkansas 5 in Cabot. The northbound and southbound lanes will be alternately closed in multiple areas beginning early today and lasting until about midnight Friday, weather permitting.

Traffic will be reduced to one open lane and controlled with flagging operations, the department said.

Additional construction work on U.S. 67/167 in Pulaski and Lonoke counties will require lane closures northbound for parts of six days beginning today, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

Crews removing pavement markings, installing a temporary barrier wall along the outside shoulder and restriping pavement from south of Vandenberg Boulevard in Jacksonville to Arkansas 5 in Cabot will require the inside and outside lanes to be alternately closed from 8 p.m. to 1 p.m. daily through March 25, weather permitting.

Today, the work will begin about 12:01 a.m.

Traffic will be controlled using signs and barrels, the department said.

The work is part of a $79.2 million project to widen U.S. 67/167 to six lanes from four between Vandenberg and Arkansas 5.
