NWA Ostomy

The Northwest Arkansas Ostomy Support Group will meet at 2 p.m. today at Hope Cancer Resources in Springdale, 5835 W. Sunset Ave. The subject of the meeting will be managing ostomy care. A educational meeting will be held at 1 p.m.

Squares

The Kingsdale Squares will dance at 7 p.m. Monday at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista. Grant Roth will be the caller. Lessons will be at 5:45 p.m., with graduation set for next week.

Pieces 'N Patches

Pieces 'N Patches quilt group will meet at 10 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Rogers, 1901 S. 26th St. Grace Grame will teach a workshop on the exploding pineapple block. Call for supply list.

The group meets at 12:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month for programs and at 10 a.m. the third Monday for workshops. Snacks are served on program days, with participants bringing sack lunches on workshop days. Beverages will be provided.

Retired Teachers

The Washington County Retired Teachers will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Western Sizzlin' restaurant in Springdale for a $12 buffet meal and meeting. Members should arrive early to sign in, pay and register for door prizes.

This month's program is about Girl Scout Month and will be presented by Diamonds Girl Scout Council. Members need to bring pop tops, Box Tops, CEO items and books for children. A slate of officers for next year will be presented during the meeting.

Granny's Quilts

Granny's Quilts of Love will meet at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge, 1300 N. Davis St. The group will cut batting, so bring scissors, finished quilts and batting trimmings.

To date, Granny's members have made 23,884 quilts, 7,317 caps and 7,063 pillows, all donated to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock.

Senior Democrats

Senior Democrats of Northwest Arkansas will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Western Sizzlin' restaurant in Springdale. Former Attorney General Dustin McDaniel will be the featured speaker. Democrats from Madison, Benton, Carroll and Washington counties and other areas are welcome to attend.

An Alzheimer's Association caregiver support group will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive. For those who care for loved ones with Alzheimer's, these meetings provide a place to share information, such as care-giving tips and concerns.

Roundtable

The Northwest Arkansas Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Old Store annex of the Shiloh Museum of Ozarks History in Springdale, 118 W. Johnson St.

James Magee will speak on "President Buchannan, His Cabinet and the Coming of the Civil War." The meeting is open to anyone with an interest in the history of the Civil War.

PSNWA

The Photographic Society of Northwest Arkansas will hold a class on "How to Take Photographs Using Composite Techniques" with freelance photographer Dan Snow from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the PSNWA Gallery and Studios in Bentonville, 207 N.E. Second St.

Snow has a desire to understand the tragedies of life and has sought locations where tragedies have taken place, showing the strange beauty in such locations. He will use his body of work, "Aftermath," as a basis for teaching concepts and techniques of composing. Participants need only a natural curiosity and an open mind. The class is free to members and $10 for nonmembers.

Hill 'N Dale

The Hill 'N Dale Hiking Club of Bella Vista will hike the Lost Bridge Trail in the Garfield and Beaver Lake area Saturday. The trip will include 5 miles of moderate to easy hiking. Meet at the upper-level parking area of the Harps Food Store in Bella Vista for 8:30 a.m. departure. Carpool to the trail head. Nonmembers are invited.

Ozark Hill Hikers

The Ozark Hill Hikers, affiliated with the American Volkssport Association, welcomes all interested walkers to join them for a 5K or 10K walk in north Bentonville on Saturday. Registration begins at 11 a.m. at Casey's General Store, 100 S.E. J St. in Bentonville.

Calico Cut-Ups

The Calico Cut-Ups will meet from 9 a.m. to noon March 27 at the Bella Vista United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive. The meeting is open to all levels of quilters. The workshop will be on wool applique and will cost $20 for the kit and the workshop. The guild meeting will begin at 1 p.m. The speaker will be Brenda Patterson from Whistle Stop Wool of Joplin, Mo., and the presentation is titled, "Wonderful World of Wool." A $5 fee at the door covers the cost of the speaker.

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. March 27 at Bentonville Public Library, 405 S. Main St. Randy McCrory, a collector of Benton County history, will present a program about Monte Ne.

Women in History

The Washington County Women in History Coalition will recognize six women at their banquet, beginning at 6 p.m. March 27at Mermaids Restaurant in Fayetteville. Honorees for 2017 include Marilyn Edwards, Nancy Kahanak, Nancy Mays, Mary Jane Silva, Thelma Thomason and Martha Ward.

Tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance. Reserved tables of eight are available for $300. Deadline for tickets is Monday.

Supporting cancer

Hope Cancer Resources offers a support group for women living with any type of stage IV cancer. This month's meeting is from 1 to 2:30 p.m. March 31 at Hope Cancer Resources in Springdale, 5835 W. Sunset Ave. Reservations required.

Altrusa

Altrusa of Fayetteville will host a Trade-A-Book from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 1 at the Northwest Arkansas Mall in Fayetteville. Bring gently used books, and trade them for other books. There will be hundreds of books. For those who don't have a book, they will be given one. All books and all exchanges are free. Books may also be donated.

CLIMB

Children's Lives Include Moments of Bravery is a Children's Treehouse Foundation family support group that helps children ages 6 to 12 cope with and share feelings about parents or loved ones who have cancer. The next CLIMB group will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. every Tuesday from April 4 to May 9 at Hope Cancer Resources in Springdale, 5835 W. Sunset Ave. Registration is required.
