Groups to re-enact Battle of Helena

HELENA-WEST HELENA -- A re-enactment of the Battle of Helena -- which was fought on July 4, 1863, during the Civil War -- will take place from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Fort Curtis on Tuesday.

Civil War re-enactors from the 1st Michigan Battery G Light Artillery and the Seven Generals Camp No. 135 of Helena-West Helena will demonstrate the use of small arms and cannons. The public can also visit with the re-enactors to learn about camp life during the Civil War.

Admission is free and open to the public.

The Delta Cultural Center Depot and Visitors Center will be open for visitors from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Visitors are reminded of the Civil War exhibit on the upper floor at the Depot.
