Police say Springdale woman helped boyfriend beat up dad

SPRINGDALE -- Jacob Boivin, 32, of Fayetteville and Dustye Stamps, 34, of Springdale were arrested Monday in connection with aggravated robbery, aggravated residential burglary, kidnapping and battery.

Police found Ronald Stamps, Dustye Stamps' father, with multiple injuries at 6:51 p.m. Friday at 706 E. Center Ave., according to an arrest affidavit.

Ronald Stamps told police Boivin, Dustye Stamps' boyfriend, hit him with his fists before picking up a knife and cutting him several times. Then Boivin hit him with the butt of a shotgun and a screwdriver.

Dustye Stamps helped Boivin strap her father to a chair with duct tape. They stole a .45 caliber pistol, debit card and a white 2001 Chevrolet pickup, according to the affidavit.

Ronald Stamps told police he made his way to the door and signaled a neighbor for help.

Ronald Stamps was taken to Northwest Medical Center-Springdale and then sent to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo. He suffered a subdural hematoma and brain swelling as well as multiple injuries on his head, chest and knee. He was in critical condition in the intensive care unit on Monday afternoon, according to the affidavit. Police didn't update his condition on Tuesday.

Boivin and Dustye Stamps were arrested about 3:44 p.m. Monday at Murphy Park. Boivin was carrying a black backpack with the loaded stolen gun inside. Boivin is a felon on probation and faces a charge of possession of a firearm by certain persons, according to a press release.

Stamps and Boivin were being held Tuesday at the Washington County Detention Center on $250,000 bond each.
