Interstate closings on tap in Bentonville

BENTONVILLE -- Crews placing bridge beams over Interstate 49 will require closing all lanes for multiple 15-minute periods Thursday night in Bentonville.

All lanes will be closed between 11 p.m. Thursday and 5 a.m. Friday, according to Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department officials. Lanes will be closed between mile markers 87 and 89 as crews hang bridge beams at Arkansas 72, Exit 88. Traffic control will be handled by the Arkansas State Police.

The project is part of AHTD's Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening more than three miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends from U.S. 62/Arkansas 102 to Arkansas 72 and includes constructing auxiliary lanes toward Southeast Walton Boulevard. Construction is expected to be complete later this year. More information on the $27.7 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
