Cornerstone Bank wins Steward Award

Cornerstone Bank's new Huntsville branch earned the company the 2017 War Eagle Steward Award from the Beaver Watershed Alliance. The alliance is a nonprofit organization focused on maintaining high quality drinking water in Beaver Lake and improving water quality within the lake's watershed.

Pre- and post-development management practices such as silt fencing, rock check dams, straw wattles, bioswales and a stormwater detention pond at the Huntsville branch reduced sediment and stormwater runoff.

Awards are presented each year during War Eagle Appreciation Day, a communitywide event held at Withrow Springs State Park.

State recognizes Rockline for safe work

The Arkansas Department of Labor recognized Rockline Industries' Springdale manufacturing facility with an award for exceptional safety, achieving 8 million safe work hours without time lost because of an accident. This milestone has only been achieved 10 other times since Arkansas began recognizing workplace safety in 1976.

The company has a behavioral-based safety program, which trains employees to observe work tasks and to provide immediate safety feedback to those involved. Associates are responsible and accountable to themselves and for the safety of teammates around them. The program also encourages associates to constantly look for and provide documented opportunities to improve their work areas and practices to make their work environment safer.

The award from the department's Occupational Safety and Health Division is part of Arkansas' overall educational program to encourage workplace safety by honoring companies whose employees have accumulated a significant number of work hours without a lost day due to a work-related injury or illness.

Heart Association honors medical center

Northwest Medical Center-Bentonville received the Mission: Lifeline Bronze Receiving Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who have had heart attacks.

The Lifeline program's goal is to reduce barriers to prompt treatment for heart attacks, beginning with the 911 call and continuing through hospital treatment.

The Bentonville center earned the award by meeting specific criteria and standards of performance for the quick and appropriate treatment. Eligible hospitals must adhere to the measures at a set level for at least one consecutive 90-day interval.
