LEADING LAWYERS

Spa City awash in legalese with 119th meeting of Bar

HOT SPRINGS -- No joke -- almost 300 lawyers filled the lobby of the Arlington Hotel on June 15 for the traditional Friday, Eldridge and Clark reception at the 119th meeting of the Arkansas Bar Association.

Lawyers from across the state mingled and networked as they enjoyed cocktails and a buffet of finger foods. They were in town attending the association's largest yearly gathering, held June 14-16 at the Hot Springs Convention Center. This year's theme was Lawyers Leading in a Time of Change.

The meeting included continuing education workshops, local and national speakers and alumni luncheons for the University of Arkansas School of Law and University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law.

More than two dozen lawyers marked their 50th year as association members at a luncheon in their honor. On the last day of the convention, Tony Hilliard of Little Rock was sworn in as association president.
