McKinstry’s run pushes Drillers past Naturals

TULSA, Okla. — Zach McKinstry scored on a wild pitch in the eighth inning, leading the Tulsa Drillers to a 3-2 win over the Northwest Arkansas Naturals on Saturday.

McKinstry scored on the play after he entered the game as a pinch runner on second base and advanced to third on a flyout.

Logan Moon hit an RBI single, driving in Humberto Arteaga in the second inning to give the Naturals a 1-0 lead. The Drillers came back to take the lead in the third inning when Jose Miguel Fernandez hit a two-run home run.

NW Arkansas tied the game 2-2 in the eighth when Samir Duenez hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Donald Dewees.

Shea Spitzbarth (1-2) got the win in relief while Sam Selman (4-3) took the loss in the Texas League game. Corey Copping retired the side in order for his sixth save of the season.

CARDINALS 4, TRAVELERS 3

Oscar Mercado hit a walkoff single with two outs in the 12th inning, as the Springfield Cardinals beat the Arkansas Travelers 4-3 on Saturday.

Magneuris Sierra scored the game-winning run after he reached base with a single, stole second and then stole third.

Ian Miller hit an RBI single, driving in Adam Law in the fifth inning to break a scoreless tie. The Cardinals came back to take a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning when Bruce Caldwell hit an RBI double, bringing home Mercado.

Arkansas regained the lead 3-2 after it scored one run in the ninth inning, including a wild pitch that scored Dario Pizzano.

Springfield tied the game 3-3 in the ninth when Sierra hit an RBI double, driving in Casey Turgeon.
