BENTON COUNTY

Unitarian Universalists of Benton County, 1110 S.E. Evergreen St., Bentonville, hold a flower communion and summer kickoff at 11 a.m. Sunday. During July and August, services will be held only on the second Sunday of the month.

The men's Bible study from 6:30 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday. The DVD study A Time for Confidence: Trusting God in a Post-Christian Society, by Stephen Nicols, is facilitated by the church pastor Jeff Reed.

The women's study -- Bad Girls of the Bible by Liz Curtis Higgs -- meets from 9:30 to 11 a.m. every Thursday.

Parish nurses are available for blood pressure screening and question from 9 a.m. to noon each Wednesday.

First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville, 901 N.E. J St., offers Bible-based day camps for children who have completed kindergarten to sixth grade. Each camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for five days, July 10-14, July 17-21 and July 24-28.

The church operates a food pantry from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. every Saturday.

Village Bible Church in Bella Vista, 1591 Forest Hills Blvd., offers "Ocean Commotion: Diving Into Noah's Flood," a vacation Bible school, from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. The program is for children entering grades kindergarten through sixth grade in the fall.

The Oasis Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to noon each Wednesday.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., presents J.P. Cima, a missionary in Vietnam, during the morning worship services and Bible hour Sunday. He will explain how ministry in a foreign mission field applies to the church's mission field in Bella Vista.

Senior adults meet for a prayer and game day from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The church plans a special worship for those unable to attend a regular service at 11:30 a.m. July 2.

The Shepherd's Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday. The pantry needs donations of peanut butter and jelly and bar soap.

Brightwater Memorial United Methodist Church, 14108 E. Highway 62, and Pea Ridge United Methodist Church, 1205 N. Davis St., welcome new pastor, the Rev. Scott Stewart. He will lead his first services July 2, 9:30 a.m. at Brightwater and 11 a.m. at Pea Ridge.

Unity Church of the Ozarks, 902 S.W. Second St., Bentonville, serves a potluck meal after the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday.

The church also offers an adult class, "How to Pray," from 9 to 10 a.m. each Sunday in June. The class is designed to teach the difference between traditional prayer and Unity's affirmative prayer. A Wednesday night study centers on self-examination through The Work: Loving What It Is by Bryon Katie.

New Life Christian Church in Bella Vista, 103 Riordan Road, offers a Bible study and dinner for college-age adults from 6 to 8 p.m. each Thursday.

A new summer Bible study for women, "The Daniel Prayer," meets at 9:30 a.m. each Tuesday.

The Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., plans a cookout for the Dinner Church at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The church presents a "Creative Kids Make It and Share It" from 9 to 11:30 a.m. July 31 to Aug. 4 for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Participants will make different projects each day and deliver them to nonprofit agencies in Bella Vista.

Through the summer months, the church collects snacks for kids to donated to Helping Hands Food Pantry in Bentonville. Suggested items include cheese and crackers, fruit cups, juice packets and boxes, granola bars and microwavable items such as macaroni and cheese, ravioli and soups.

Highland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Bella Vista, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd., plans a bus trip Sept 12 to Branson, Mo., to see Moses at the Sight and Sound Theater. Cost is $110 per person, and a $25 deposit reserves a seat. The trip includes two meals.

Berry Street Baptist Church in Springdale, 320 Berry St., offers "Galactic Starveyors!" vacation Bible school from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday to Friday.

First United Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, 695 E. Calvin St., offers "Abundance Orchard: Where faith grows and hungry people are fed" as its vacation Bible school from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday for children who have completed kindergarten through the fifth grade. A $20 donation includes daily lunch, snacks, drinks and a camp T-shirt.

First Presbyterian Church in Springdale, 100 S. Gutensohn Road, offers "Water All Around the World," a vacation Bible school, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday to Thursday. Participants will learn about how Jesus is the Living Water and the struggle to obtain clean drinking water in many countries around the world.

Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, 6 W. Dickson St., presents the Agape Singers youth choir from Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in Houston at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Activity Center. The choir presents the musical Esther, taken from the Old Testament. The Agape Singers prepare for six months to present a musical with a message, and tour with the musical before presenting shows at home.

The University of Arkansas offers the class, "The Holy Land in Jewish Thought," from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, July 3 to Aug. 4. Jacob Adler, rabbi of Temple Shalom of Northwest Arkansas in Fayetteville, leads the class.

The class will consider main currents of Jewish thought relating to the land of Israel and Palestine. Class emphasis is on the trends of thought necessary for understanding the current issues and conflicts over the Land of Israel, including religious, nonreligious and anti-religious viewpoints. Focus is on the various ideologies, with history and politics being brought in only to the extent necessary to understand them.

Topics include: What's holy about the Holy Land; the language one should speak there; what happens if a visitor is not holy and more.
