Former Univision Arkansas host Victor Hugo Alvarez-Real, 35, of 1012 N. Kansas St. in Springdale has been arrested in Texas in connection with the rape of a child, according to court and online records.

He was booked into the Dallas County Jail about 1 p.m. Wednesday on a rape warrant from the Washington County Sheriff's Office, according to the online inmate roster. Alvarez-Real was being held on $250,000 bond. The extradition process to have him transferred to Washington County had not started as of Friday afternoon, said Kelly Cantrell, Sheriff's Office spokesman.

In late October, a mother took her 7-year-old child to the Children's Clinic in Springdale for a rash, which later tested positive for herpes and chlamydia, according to an arrested affidavit.

In January, the child told her mother Alvarez-Real assaulted her and the woman contacted police, according to the affidavit.

When contacted by officials in January, Alvarez-Real denied any wrongdoing and has been unreachable since then, according to the affidavit filed May 3.

On May 15, an arrest warrant was issued for Alvarez-Real.

Pinnacle Media LLC/Univision said in a statement issued in late May that Alvarez-Real left the company in January.

"Pinnacle Media does not take any responsibility for personal actions of former employees," company president Gregory Fess said. "Pinnacle Media is proud to continue serving the communities in Arkansas as it has done for almost eight years."
