Arts Center of the Ozarks in Springdale will kick off its 51st year with "Opening Night" and a production of Kiss Me, Kate, directed by Coleman Ray Clark. The "Opening Night" benefit at 6:30 p.m. July 14 will include a sneak peak of the upcoming season and help support the community arts center's mission, said Kathleen Trotter, executive director. The benefit will include drinks and hors d'oeuvres before the 7:30 p.m. performance, and champagne and desserts during intermission.

Trotter said the nonprofit organization's mission is to "engage people in the arts and to contribute to thriving local and regional communities." She said there are three aspects to achieving that mission: social -- putting people in relation to others; cultural -- Springdale has many traditions to highlight; and economic -- to be a driver of activity to get people to downtown Springdale and make Springdale a destination.
