Nightly closings set for I-49 work

LOWELL -- Crews placing bridge beams over Interstate 49 will require closing all north lanes for multiple 15-minute periods in Benton County.

The intervals will occur between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. from Friday night through Saturday morning, according to Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department officials. Lanes will be closed between Wagon Wheel Road, Exit 76, in Springdale and West Monroe Avenue, Exit 78, in Lowell.

The project is part of the department's Connecting Arkansas Program and constructs about 4 miles of the new four-lane U.S. 412 Northern Bypass, which extends from I-49 to Arkansas 112. More information on this $100.6 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
