'Baby mama' strife precedes shooting

A 27-year-old Little Rock man told police he was shot in the leg early Friday by his "baby mama's brother," police said.

Craig Crook was hit once in the right calf before being taken to CHI St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

Crook was shot about 1 a.m. at a home in the 7700 block of North Chicot Road, according to a Little Rock police report.

Crook told investigators that he was trying to leave the residence after an argument with his "baby mama" when her brother approached him and they "exchanged words," the report said. The man "then pulled out a gun and shot him," the report said.

A suspected gunman was not identified by name on the report, and it didn't indicate an arrest had been made.

LR driver arrested after 90 mph chase

A man led Pulaski County deputies on a high-speed chase into Little Rock on Friday afternoon, the sheriff's office reported.

Jeffery Brown, 42, was charged with fleeing and reckless driving.

Deputies tried to stop a motorist in the area of Pinnacle Valley Road and County Farm Road for driving 51 mph in a 35 mph zone, according to an arrest report. The driver reportedly fled toward Cantrell Road at speeds faster than 90 mph. The sheriff's office said the driver ran a stop sign and crossed the yellow lines numerous times before turning west onto Cantrell Road.

The driver sped through heavy traffic and turned south onto Taylor Loop Road, where he abandoned his vehicle and ran toward a wooded area, according to the report.

Deputies arrested him soon afterward at 1:15 p.m.

Brown was additionally charged with four counts of aggravated assault. The sheriff's office said he nearly struck four construction workers with his vehicle during the 2-mile chase.

Brown of Little Rock was being held in the Pulaski County jail late Friday.

LR man, 24, held in car theft, pursuit

A 24-year-old man was arrested Thursday after a vehicle was stolen at gunpoint and the carjacker hit two other cars while fleeing, police said.

The vehicle was stolen in the 2300 block of South Rock Street, according to a police report.

An officer in an unmarked police unit spotted the stolen vehicle in the 1600 block of John Barrow Road sometime before 7:45 p.m. and tried to pull it over. The driver fled and eventually struck two vehicles in the 5800 block of University Avenue before he was arrested, the report said.

Latavious Murry of Little Rock faces charges of aggravated robbery, theft of property, first-degree criminal mischief and fleeing, all felonies.

A hearing is set for Thursday.

2 friends offered a lift rob woman

A 19-year-old woman told Little Rock police that she was robbed at gunpoint Thursday by two friends who got into her back seat, took her possessions and then threatened to shoot her.

The woman said she was driving a maroon 2009 Honda Accord on Baseline Road about 4 a.m. when she spotted two of her male friends walking on the sidewalk, and they got into the back seat.

One of the men pulled a gun and said, "Give me all of your stuff," so the woman handed over her purse, iPhone and $100, according to a police report.
