Greasy Greans celebrate 4 decades

The Greasy Greens
The Greasy Greens

The Greasy Greens will celebrate the band's four decades of off-and-on togetherness with "An Hysterical Perspective (The Older We Get, The Better We Were)," 7 p.m. Friday at the Ron Robinson Theater in Little Rock. The show is sold out.

The group's lineup for the show includes Arkansans and others now living in far-flung places who agreed to take part. The participants are bandleader Ron Hughes, Sheila Kuonen, Joe Kuonen, Jane Tucker, Dan Morris, Katrina Kelso, Barbara Raney, Chris "Blind Boy White" Thomson, Washboard Leo Thomas, Jud Martindale, Jimmy Powell, Lynn Fitzgerald, Nick Devlin, Rick Holiman, Lela Bloom, Mimi Paulette Mullen, Evan Brown, Richard Williams, James Bass, Steve Guilmet and Poco Carter.

Plus there's Patrick McKelvey, a singer and multi-instrumentalist who led the band in its early years, but left the fold, previously declining opportunities to take part in other shows.

The musicians have been rehearsing for several months and have assembled costumes, props and skits that made the band's shows popular in multiple states for years, culminating in a surprise birthday show for President Bill Clinton in his final year at the White House.
