Democratic Party official to leave post

The treasurer of the Arkansas Democratic Party said Wednesday he'll step down at the end of the month to take a new job in Northwest Arkansas.

Tyler Clark of Fayetteville served in the part-time volunteer role as a party officer since 2014. He's also chairman of the Washington County Democrats, a role he said Wednesday he plans to continue.

Beginning July 27, Clark will start work as executive director of the Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas, according to a Facebook post.

Clark said his departure was entirely due to "personal goals."

"As I step into this new role, I am excited to make a different kind of impact -- empowering families to make the transition from poverty to prosperity through continued education," Clark said in a Facebook post announcing his new job.

Party Chairman Michael John Gray praised Clark's service, saying he has "an unrivaled dedication to the Democratic Party."

Gray was elected chairman earlier this year, succeeding Vincent Insalaco.

While the party treasurer is an elected officer position, Gray said there is not enough time to give notice of an election before the next State Committee meeting on July 22.

Gray said an interim treasurer will be appointed by the party's executive committee, until an election can be held in the fall.
