Escalera’s homer lifts Naturals to win

SAN ANTONIO — Alfredo Escalera hit a three-run home run in the eighth inning, leading the Northwest Arkansas Naturals to a 5-3 win over the San Antonio Missions on Saturday.

Jake Newberry got Webster Rivas to hit into a double play with a runner on first to end the game for his 13th save of the season.

The home run by Escalera scored Humberto Arteaga and Zach Walters and was the game's last scoring play.

The Missions took a 3-2 lead when Franmil Reyes scored on a wild pitch in the sixth.

Andrew Edwards (2-0) got the win in relief while Aroni Nina (0-1) took the loss in the Texas League game.

TRAVELERS 3, HOOKS 2 Dario Pizzano hit a two-run homer in the third inning, and Lindsey Caughel allowed just one hit as the Arkansas Travelers defeated the Corpus Christi Hooks. Blake Perry got Antonio Nunez to fly out with a runner on first to end the game.
