Construction on Interstate 49 in Bentonville will require overnight lane closings on Arkansas 72 beginning today and lasting, with some exceptions, through July 28, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.
The work on the Arkansas 72 overpass will require eastbound and westbound lanes to be closed between McClain Road and McCollum Drive.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane on Arkansas 72 between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. daily through Friday. The work will continue on a Sunday through Friday schedule on a weekly basis through July 28. Traffic will be controlled with signs, traffic barrels and flaggers, the department said.
The work is part of a $27.7 million project to widen 3.5 miles of I-49 to six lanes from four between U.S. 62/Arkansas 102 and Arkansas 72.
