The youth surrendered to police at noon Monday, said Capt. Scott Adams, commander of the Blytheville Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division.

The youth will be charged as an adult with second-degree murder today in Blytheville District Court, Adams said.

Police declined to provide the suspect's age or sex.

Adams said police responded about 7:40 p.m. Sunday to a report of a stabbing at Cedar Grove Trailer Park at 901 S. Division St.

Upon arrival, officers found Bennie Earl Holliman, 38, on the ground with his neck cut. A person was attempting to provide medical assistance, Adams said.

Medical personnel transported Holliman to Great River Medical Center in Blytheville where he later died, Adams said.

Holliman's body was sent to the state Crime Laboratory in Little Rock for an autopsy.

It is the first homicide of the year in the Mississippi County town of 15,120. Blytheville reported 11 slayings last year, Adams said.
