Basketball: Pridmore leads Prairie Grove past Greenland

PRAIRIE GROVE -- Will Pridmore showed on Friday why Prairie Grove is excited about him.

Pridmore did most of his damage inside but he also made three 3-pointers. He helped put the game away with a three and a short jumper to give the Tigers (10-11) a 54-45 lead in the fourth quarter.

"Tonight was a glimpse of what Will is capable of doing," Prairie Grove coach Steve Edmiston said. "He's a scorer and he shot it really well."

Prairie Grove spent most of the night pounding the ball inside to Pridmore and center Cameron Simmons, who scored 15 points. Isaac Disney, Taylor Moore, and Zeke Laird contributed assists before Laird and Pridmore hit 3-pointers to give the Tigers a 26-14 lead.

Reserve center Demarkus Cooper also contributed a couple of baskets for the Tigers, who rebounded from a 64-47 defeat to Gravette on Tuesday. Pridmore had 11 points in that game.

"It's kind of old-school, inside-outside basketball, but I think it works for us really well," Edmiston said.

Greenland (5-11) rallied in the third quarter behind Zac Wolfe, who finished with 21 points. Cutter Watkins added 15 for the Pirates, who stayed within reach after losing 70-40 to Pea Ridge on Tuesday.

"That had us outmanned inside," Greenland coach Jared Gobel said. "But our offense looked pretty good I thought. We're executing better and not throwing the ball away like we did earlier in the year. We've just got to keep grinding."
