Arkansas Rep sets talk on Sister Act

The cast and crew of Sister Act, which is showing at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre through Feb. 26, will host a panel discussion on the production Thursday.

The panel being held in partnership with the Clinton School of Public Service and will take place at the school's Sturgis Hall at noon.

The play centers on lounge singer Deloris Van Cartier, who witnesses a violent crime by her mobster boyfriend and is placed in the witness protection program. She poses as a nun and struggles to fit in.

The play is based on the 1992 movie of the same name starring actress Whoopi Goldberg.

Junction to close for construction

A traffic circle will be built next month at the four-way intersection of Kavanaugh Boulevard, Richard B. Hardie Drive, McKinley Street and Pine Valley Road.

Construction on the project is to begin Feb. 2 at 9 a.m. and last about four months.

City officials said the circle will improve traffic flow and safety. The intersection will be closed during construction, but detour signs will show motorists alternate routes.

Message boards will be placed near the site before the start of construction to notify motorists of the coming closures.
