The 5,600-square-foot area occupies the top floor of the hospital's Women and Infants Center tower and is a place of respite so families with critically ill children may stay close to them while they are hospitalized. The organization expects to serve 1,500 families in its first year. Since opening its doors Dec. 21, the group has been at 85 to 100 percent capacity every night and welcomed 20 people for Christmas dinner, said Stephanie Medford, president and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkhoma.

Among those celebrating the opening with the organization were Greg Lancelot, Bill Mathews, Eric Pianalto, Hannah and Greg Lee, Bill Bradley, Jim Crouch, Sam Hollis, Woody Bassett, Tiffany and Jimmy Dykes and Tim Helder.
