Orthodontist clinic approved in Springdale

SPRINGDALE -- An orthodontist who owns two Northwest Arkansas clinics is on his way to opening a clinic in Springdale.

The Planning Commission unanimously approved Tuesday a development request from Engineering Services. Darrin Storms wants to build a Storms Orthodontics facility on the south side of Har-Ber Avenue, about 3,000 feet east of Maestri Road.

Storms also has clinics in Fayetteville and Siloam Springs.

Jason Appel of Engineering Services said after the meeting the clinic will be 5,670 square feet. He said he hopes construction will begin this year.

The commission approved rezoning 4312 Elm Springs Road from a large product retail sales district to a thoroughfare commercial district.

Gayla Byrd of Lindsey & Associates, a Northwest Arkansas real estate company representing the property owner, presented the rezoning request, saying the property owner wants to turn the property into a Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurant.

The commission also approved the northwest corner of South 56th Street and Don Tyson Parkway from an agricultural district to a commercial district.
