BREAK FOR THE BARRISTERS

Bar Association's meetings adjourn for levity, libations

After sitting and listening intently in seminars and continuing education classes all day, lawyers attending the Arkansas Bar Association's midyear meeting shared some camaraderie at a Feb. 16 reception at the Riverview Room, on the ground level of the Little Rock Marriott.

Stephens Insurance LLC provided the food and drinks; Mother Nature provided a relaxing view of the Arkansas River.

Association president Denise Reid Hoggard of Little Rock welcomed guests, which included about 80 lawyers, judges, law students and Arkansas legislators to the event. The reception was one of two held in conjunction with 2 1/2 days of continuing legal education seminars held at the Marriott and at the Capital Hotel. Casey Rockwell of Little Rock was chairman of this year's meeting.

For the reception, the Marriott provided a buffet that included endive cups with Asian chicken salad, red pepper hummus and cucumber lemon chutney on baked pita bread, Parmesan Ranch wings with blue cheese and vegetable spring rolls with sweet Thai chili sauce among other fare.
