Back 40 trail closings expected in March, April

Controlled burns planned on trail segments

BELLA VISTA -- The Bella Vista Fire Department will do controlled burns on areas of the Back 40 trails during March and early April.

Trail users can expect closings, according to a news release.

The Taylor Homestead Trail from Bethnal Road west to the trail's intersection with the SBAT Trail is closed and will remain closed until further notice. The section was closed to investigate a potential hazard on the trail. The trail has been determined to be safe to use, but will remain closed until the burns are finished.

Starting Wednesday, the Flo-ride trail from York Drive to Castleford Drive will be closed until further notice.

Other closings can be expected periodically on the following trail sections:

• Back 40 Loop from Buckingham Trailhead to Lake Ann dam (for a burn in the area where the trail approaches Bella Vista Way at Trafalgar Road).

• Lookout Trail.

• Brittany Dam Trail, on Pinyon Creek Trail between SBAT to the Back 40 Loop.

Trail users should use caution in these areas during March and April, and watch for signs and barricades denoting trail closings. All trail closings will be posted in advance.
