Angela E. Thomas

Where I live: the Reservoir neighborhood in Little Rock.

Occupation: I am a journalist -- some readers may recognize me from AY magazine, where I happily served as editor. In August, I decided to take a leap of faith. I'm working as a freelance writer -- gotta pay the bills -- while establishing my company, Godsent Greetings.

My favorite space is: a nook in my den. This area was a study area for our three children. Now that we're almost empty-nesters, I've gotten rid of the old desk and reclaimed this area, along with several other spaces in our home. I love these chairs, which are a bit of a walk on the wild side for me as I tend to shy away from patterns on larger pieces of furniture.

Why? Over our 28 years, I've made all of the decorating and renovation decisions for our homes and have recruited my husband Daron (aka "Honey") along the way. The projects have been both minor (painting and wallpapering) and major (laying wood and tile floors). Honey's only request: no flowers in the decor. But this time around I've added a few subtle flowers ... especially in this area, which is modern with a touch of femininity.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: add more windows to allow more natural light to fill the room. A second thing? Add a chaise lounge.
