It's always been about the lyrics for Kyle Morris. They come naturally to him -- he doesn't have to manufacture what he's trying to say. And on his band's second EP, "Bed of Liars" -- released just last week -- Morris says he's introducing people to the grownup version of The Unlikely Candidates.

"This time we just sat down and pulled out whatever was lurking in our consciousness and established a personality and built it from the ground up," Morris says, referencing the group's debut EP "Follow My Feet" from 2013.

"I can write a song that's catchy and appeals to other people on the surface level, but I always have to put my double meanings underneath it," he continues. "So a song about a tumultuous relationship might be about something completely different underneath -- like some social or psychological issue I'm dealing with. I'll leave little clues in the lyrics, but mostly I'm trying to get the song to play on two levels. That's what I do to feel like I'm still making art."

Once the alternative rockers hit the stage, their larger-than-life, sometimes reckless persona is a major part of their musical personality as well. Morris says George's crowd at Wednesday night's show should be ready for anything -- from sincere moments to some full-on dramatic weirdness.
