Fayetteville High School evacuated after teacher sees haze

FAYETTEVILLE — Fayetteville High School was evacuated after a teacher saw haze inside the school at 10:56 a.m. Tuesday, Battalion Chief Travis Boudrey said.

No one was injured, Boudrey added. The building was ventilated by 12:30 p.m.

“There is nothing to be concerned about,” Boudrey said.

Firefighters found no fire and suspect the haze was from an outside vent for the chemistry and biology laboratory, Boudrey said. The haze had no odor, he said.

Other parts of the building were investigated, but firefighters did not find anything, Boudrey said, adding that firefighters with hazardous-material experience were brought in to make sure the building was safe before staff came back in.
