City police to move, share bank's roof

The Mineral Springs City Council unanimously agreed to move the city's Police Department to Diamond Bank as an added deterrent to discourage criminals from robbing the bank.

On Thursday, the council approved the department's move into a former insurance office inside the bank building. The existing police headquarters is about two blocks away.

The city will pay for any renovation and the utilities.

The bank was robbed July 25, 2016. Four suspects have been caught, arrested and charged, and their trials are pending. The bank also was robbed in 2004. That suspect was arrested, charged and sentenced to prison.
