Lake cleanup set

Volunteers are needed to clean up an old dump site at Lincoln Lake on Saturday. Meet at the lake parking area at 8 a.m.

Work should take two to three hours. Bring work gloves, water and snacks. There are many small items to be picked up so children are welcome.

The Leopold Education Project is open to all area environmental educators and will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., March 3 at Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area.

The course is based on Aldo Leopold’s “Sand County Almanac,” and stresses conservation and environmental teaching and critical thinking. School teachers, Master Naturalists, stream team leaders and others involved in environmental education are encouraged to sign up.

Cost is $35 and includes teaching materials and a one-year membership in the Leopold Foundation.

Banquet benefits youth

Buckmasters of Northwest Arkansas will hold its annual fundraiser banquet at 6 p.m. on March 4 at the Rodeo Community Center in Springdale.

Buckmasters provides free hunting trips to youngsters who are ill or disabled and for disabled veterans. Buckmasters also provides fishing trips, nature observation and target shooting.

The banquet includes games, auctions and drawings for sporting equipment and art.
