FAYETTEVILLE -- Police are investigating the death of a University of Arkansas student after he fell from a window in an apartment complex early Friday, according to Sgt. Craig Stout, police spokesman.

Brian Gray Colton, 26, fell from the fourth floor of The Cardinal at West Center, 813 W. Center St., Stout said. Colton was found dead on the sidewalk about 2:54 a.m. His body will be taken to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy, Stout said.

Stout said no foul play is suspected, but police believe alcohol was a factor in Colton's death. Evidence indicates Colton was trying to jump from the window to an adjacent balcony when he fell, according to a police news release.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Cardinal at West Center is a student housing complex across the street from campus.
