Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus announces its 2017 Chancellor’s Leadership Cabinet. The student organization assists with communication efforts among prospective and current students, alumni and friends, advancing the school’s mission through outreach and support of the communities the school serves. Bentonville WestHigh School

Bentonville West High School will celebrate its inaugural Colors Day on Friday. The Bentonville West Wolverines will host the Rogers Heritage War Eagles at Wolverine Arena.

A homecoming assembly is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at Wolverine Arena. The queen will be revealed during a ceremony at halftime of the varsity boys' basketball game.

Washburn University

John Glynn of Bentonville was named as a 2016 dean's list honoree at Washburn University in Topeka, Kan., with a grade-point average of 3.4 to 3.99.

Rhodes College

Olivia Doty of Fayetteville, Erin Dempsey of Centerton and Lauren Hamm of Bentonville were named to the fall 2016 dean's list at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn., with grade-point averages of 3.70 or better.

Washington State University

Angela Delgado of Bentonville was named to the 2106 president's honor roll at Washington State University in Pullman, with a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

Ouachita Baptist University

Several local students were named to the fall 2016 president's list at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, with grade-point averages of 4.0.

The University of Central Arkansas in Conway named several local students to its fall 2016 honor rolls.

Presidential scholars earned grade-point averages of 4.0. Mercer University

Ashley Whittle of Springdale has been named to the fall 2016 dean's list at Mercer University in Macon, Ga., for her work in the Townsend school of music.

University of Wisconsin-Madison

Liz Berger of Fayetteville was named to the fall 2016 dean's list at University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning dean's high honors for her work in the school of human ecology.

EAST Initiative Founder's Award

Environmental and Spatial Technology Inc., an educational nonprofit organization that promotes service learning through students' applied use of technology, has named five schools as finalists for the organization's 2017 Timothy R. Stephenson Founder's Award. They include Greenbrier High School, Helen Tyson Middle School in Springdale and Lakeside Junior High School in Springdale. The Founder's Award recognizes achievement in three distinct categories: student growth, project sophistication and innovation, and community and collaboration.

In addition to selecting the overall Founder's Award finalists, the EAST Initiative also named the following schools as finalists for the Awards of Excellence. They include Bentonville High School, Greenbrier High School, Helen Tyson Middle School and Lakeside Junior High School.

St. Olaf College

Katherine Kroening of Fayetteville has been named to the fall 2016 dean's list at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., with a grade-point average of 3.75 or higher.

National Science Bowl

A team from Fayetteville High School took first place in the National Science Bowl regional competition held Jan. 28 at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. The winning team included Albert Xu, Ryan Kim, Steven Du, Kyle Jiang and Fletcher Hall, coached by Marc Reif. The Fayetteville team advances to the national competition scheduled for April in Washington, D.C.

Russellville High School placed second, with team members Jeremy Collins, Brant Collins, Chris Schaubroeck, Tyler Tracy and Phillip Takach, coached by Paul Grey.

Haas Hall Academy placed third, with team members Robert Prettyman, Commor Fritsch, Hamaad Mehal, Sarah Sadiq and Sailesh Sirigineedi, coached by Chad Thurman,

The National Science Bowl is organized through the U.S. Department of Energy and is a nationwide academic competition that tests students' knowledge in all areas of science.
