"It's fun to watch (Vanzant) because the moment never gets to big for her," Farmington coach Brad Johnson said. "You almost have to check and see if she has a pulse late in the game. They're running and trapping late but she never loses her cool."

Kailey Fagan scored 24 points for Alma, which lost by one point to Farmington earlier this season. The game developed into a shootout between Fagan and Vanzant, especially in the third quarter when the two combined for 15 of the 21 points scored in the quarter. But Farmington wouldn't have won without contributions from other players in the fourth quarter.

Kaylee Brown made a three-point play with under two minutes to play in regulation and finished with nine points. Camryn Journagan added 11.

"Our bench came in and gave us some really good minutes, especially defensively," Johnson said. "They made us adjust to some things and they're tough to guard. Our kids came in and played their role, which gave us a chance to win it."

Fagan kept Alma in the game with her outside shooting, including three consecutive 3-pointers in the second half. She ended the third quarter with a long three then hit two more early in the fourth quarter to put Alma ahead 42-39.

"(Fagan) has had been games for us all year long," Alma coach Codey Mann said. "When she's on we're definitely really good, no doubt."

Alma fell behind by six points in the first half after missing a handful of outside shots. Alma then began driving the ball and mostly played Farmington evenly until overtime, when the Lady Cardinals outscored Alma 10-6.

"It's easy to come on the road when all you want to do is shoot threes," Mann said. "We're going to shoot 20-plus a game but, when we attack the basket to draw two defenders, then shoot the three, that's when we playing our best."
