Stun gun subdues hatchet's swinger

A Mountain Home man is accused of swinging a hatchet at deputies responding to a disturbance call at a residence Friday morning, authorities said.

Nykola Kotyk Jr., 53, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, criminal use of a prohibited weapon, resisting arrest and fleeing, according to a news release from the Baxter County sheriff's office.

Sheriff's deputies responded around 7:35 a.m. to a reported disturbance on Baxter County Road 420. There, they found Kotyk screaming and cursing loudly in the front yard, the release said.

Kotyk said his neighbor had "electrified his house, had a force field around it, and had implanted a chip and bugs into his body," the sheriff's office wrote.

When authorities tried to arrest Kotyk, he refused to comply and reached down to pick up a hatchet, the release states.

The sheriff's office said Kotyk then started swinging the hatchet at deputies, at which point a stun gun was used to subdue him.

Kotyk has a court appearance set for Jan. 11.
