FAYETTEVILLE — Deputies arrested Chaucencey Boles on Thursday in connection with aggravated robbery, battery and aggravated assault.

Boles, 27, has been arrested at least six times since 2008, including once in connection to another shooting.

He’s the third man arrested in connection with a shooting Nov. 9 on the west side of town. Paris Barton, 27, and Tyrice Bradley, 28, both of Forrest City were arrested previously.

Three people sent photographs of large sums of money to Myriah Harjo, according to a police report. Harjo told them to come to 1360 N. Chickadee Ave. The three told police they went to the home but didn’t go in because they felt she was “setting them up.”

Barton walked up to them and then walked away.

Harjo approached them and a couple minutes later, three men in masks ran toward them and one started shooting a semiautomatic handgun, according to an affidavit for an arrest warrant.

One of the three being shot at, Christopher Bess, was shot in the leg.

Bess identified Barton, who was arrested the next day, as the man who approached them and also as one of the masked men by his clothing, height and weight, according to the affidavit.

The police investigation led them to Bradley and he was arrested Monday.

Barton told police “Chauncey Brooks” was involved. Police believe Barton was lying to protect Boles, according to the affidavit. The three arrested men say they are cousins, according to the affidavit.

Boles told police he was in east Fayetteville with his girlfriend. Phone information showed he was in the area of the shooting when it occurred, according to the affidavit.

Boles pleaded guilty in June 2014 to two counts of second-degree battery and was sentenced to four years probation for his part in an altercation that left two people with stab wounds Sept. 29, 2013, at the 62 Event Center.

Also in 2014, he was arrested in connection with engaging in violent criminal group activity. In 2011, he was one of three men arrested in connection with a shooting incident on Chestnut Avenue that left no one injured.

Boles was being held Friday at the Washington County Detention Center on $250,000 bond.
