Arkansas Democrat-Gazette/MITCHELL PE MASILUN --6/11/2017-- 2 1/2 year old Gemma Benton of Fayetteville enjoys some ice cream at Loblolly's in Little Rock Sunday, June 11, 2017. The company recently moved into their new storefront in the South Main District of the city, just next to where they were previously located.

Co-owners of Loblolly Creamery will open summer 2018 in a new downtown Rogers business-collaboration project, the 1907 building.

The 1907 building was previously the Dollar Saver and is being renovated to a market-style business location.

"We were given the opportunity to be a part of the 1907 business community and we felt like it was exciting to be a part of this uplifting small business community," Sally Mengel, co-owner, said.

Mengel said this Loblolly location will be "an abbreviated version" of the Little Rock location, and will serve cones, cups and hand-packed pints for customers to take home.

Mengel looks forward to partnering with business like Onyx to potentially produce coffee-flavored ice creams. Other possible partnerships could lead to ice creams with local berries, baked goods, melons, honey, beer and more.

"I'm excited to learn about the different farms in Northwest Arkansas and what they grow," Mengel said.

Hours of operation have not been formally set, but Mengel confirmed Loblolly will be open in the afternoons and evenings. The shop will be at 101 E Walnut St.
