Police identify dead motorcyclist

FAYETTEVILLE -- James Jacobs Jr., 36, of Fayetteville died in the motorcycle versus car accident Tuesday morning.

Jacobs was riding west on East Joyce Boulevard when he lost control of his motorcycle, according to a police press release Wednesday.

Jacobs fell from his motorcycle and hit a vehicle stopped in traffic. The motorcycle traveled about 380 feet before coming to rest, according to the press release.

Jacobs was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Jacobs was wearing a helmet and other protective gear, according to the press release.

This investigation is ongoing.
