I-49 construction to disrupt traffic

Work on a $27.7 million project to widen Interstate 49 will require daytime lane closings on Arkansas 72 in Bentonville and on I-49 in Rogers and Bentonville through the end of the month, the Arkansas Department of Transportation said.

Paving work on Arkansas 72 will require the eastbound and westbound lanes to be alternatively closed between McCollum Drive and McClain Road from 8 p.m. to 2 p.m. daily.

Road construction on I-49 will require the northbound and southbound lanes to be alternately closed between U.S. 62/Arkansas 102 and Central Avenue/Arkansas 72 in Bentonville from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily, weather permitting.

Motorists should find alternate routes if possible during the lane closings, which also may affect access to I-49 entrance and exit ramps at Arkansas 72, the department said.

Traffic will be controlled with traffic barrels and flaggers.
