Sparks honored with award

Sparks Health System was recently inducted to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences' Society of the Double Helix for continued support of the medical school's residency program.

The Society of the Double Helix was established in 1998 to recognize the philanthropy and leadership of individuals and organizations who support UAMS.

Approximately 30 physicians who are part of the medical school's family medicine residency program receive specialized training, including obstetric and pediatric care, as well as endoscopic procedures at Sparks Regional Medical Center each year.

Sparks Health System includes Sparks Regional Medical Center, Sparks Medical Center -- Van Buren, Sparks Clinic, Sparks PremierCare and the fully hospital-integrated Marvin Altman Fitness Center.

Ozark College Prep opens

A local group of higher education professionals is launching Ozark College Prep LLC , offering a college prep service to new and aspiring college students.

Rather than focusing on college admissions, Fayetteville-based Ozark College Prep offers individual coaching services and a series of group courses designed to prepare students to succeed and complete their degree programs once they have arrived at school. Enrollment is now open for courses beginning in January.

The company consists of educators who are faculty and staff at universities across the country and offers several programs.

Ozark College Prep's services are accessible to students via individual enrollment, and local high schools and colleges can also contract with the firm to deliver services.
